The 3M Fast Cure Auto Glass Urethane is a highly viscose, single component moisture curing urethane adhesive. It is designed specifically for stationary glass attachments and for the bonding of windshields. This adhesive from 3M exceeds OEM strength requirements and cures twice as fast as any other adhesive on the market.
This adhesive is ideal for those applications that need fast-curing, one-part auto glass urethane. This 3M product has a shelf life of 12 months when stored at 40-75 degrees. The 3M Fast Cure Auto Glass Urethane is officially licensed by NASCAR, and approved by Carlite by Visteon.
How to Install a Windshield - Step by Step Process
- Inspect the windshield surrounding areas and the windshield for any pre-existing damage such as scratches and others. Ensure that you bring these to the vehicle owner's notice
- Protect all susceptible areas of the vehicle to prevent glass fragments and urethane drips from damaging the vehicle
- Bring out the windshield wipers and the moldings surrounding the windshield
- Cut the damaged windshield from the pinch weld
- Cut the existing urethane down and place the replacement windshield in the windshield opening. Now check for any issues with the new windshield and determine if the fit is perfect
- Prime the pinch weld for better adhesion between the urethane and the glass
- You may now clean the inside of the replacement windshield to remove dust and debris from it before installing
- Apply primer to the glass to ensure better contact between the glass and pinch weld
- Lay a bead of 3M Fast Cure Auto Glass Urethane into the pinch weld and place the windshield properly and run a check for fit
- Reinstall the cowl and place the wipers and moldings in position
- Apply water to the windshield perimeter to test for any possible leaks
- You have now applied the windshield.
